dumball pledges to raise £100,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust

2010 is going to be a huge year for the dumball - we are turning it into a fundraising powerhouse, all in aid of a fantastic cause - the Teenage Cancer Trust, who we have pledged, on your behalf, to raise £100,000 for. How are we going to do that? Well, we won't lie - you've got a bit of work to do.


HOW TO RAISE £1000

Basically, you need to get 50 people to give you £20, and why should they sponsor you? Well, because you have just committed to doing one of the stupidest challenges you’ll ever undertake that’s why (see description above). Don’t worry, you are not alone.  as we speak a special fundraising pack is winging its way to you with more details about the appeal. And we’ve made it even easier for you.

YOUR FUNDRAISING MICROSITE

This year we are working in conjunction with Virgin Money who have set you all up with your own all singing, all dancing microsites. Check them out here.

QUICK – WE HAVEN’T GOT MUCH TIME!

You have over 100 days to raise as much as you can. Here are five steps for raising that £1000 (per person remember – not per team!):

1)      CONTACT PEOPLE PERSONALLY
Don’t just send a mass e-mail pointing to your microsite, call or e-mail people personally. There’s over 100 days left until the dumball. Just contact one person a day and kindly ask them for £20, they are a million times more likely to respond. Well done, you’ve raised £2000!

2)      ASK YOUR BOSS FOR COMMERICIAL SPONSERSHIP
We don’t care if your car is amblazoned with your work logo – milk ‘em for all they are worth!

3)      GET THE LOCAL PRESS INVOLVED
Once your car is done contact the local rag. They’ll love a good charity story with a nice picture of some nutters dressed like idiots. We'll post a link to a press release soon - watch this space. 4)      PIMP YOUR CAR UP, AND DRIVE IT AROUND TOWN SHACKIG BUCKETS
You will get loads of TCT stickers in your fundraising pack to help you do this – it’s a must for August bank holiday, which we will declare, NATIONAL DUMBALL DAY!

5)      HOLD  A FUNDRAISING PARTY
The easiest and most fun way to get money off your friends. Charge on the door – have a raffle – you’ll raise tons!
